DIY: Free Halloween Banner!

Just as you're beginning to fathom that summer really is over, you may have forgotten to throw up some decorations to mark the onset of cold-weather holidays. So if you haven't decorated for Halloween yet (partly due to a hesitancy to mix scary black creatures and dripping blood into your current decor), here's a...well..."cute" little banner I whipped up that you can download for free! Of course, you'll still have to print it, buy ribbon, and put it together. I promise I've tried to keep it as simple as possible. This is the first of what I hope will be many free holiday downloads, one for each holiday...so stay tuned!

Jewell's Picks & Pics: Arte Bebé

I found Arte Bebé because I was looking for shops that carry Egg by Susan Lazar (I'll do a post on that later). Just look at all these fabulous things to beg Grandma for! Every once in a while you want to sport something that obviously didn't come from Target or Old Navy (no downing these, they're my main staples).

DIY: Glittered Pumpkins

No joke, I actually got this project from Martha Stewart Living. Visit this link and you'll find the directions for how to make your very own spangly glittered pumpkins. It is really very easy. Also, I did this with a large group, so I ordered glitter wholesale from this craft supply website: KitKraft. Make sure you use the ultra-fine glitter, not just fine, because it won't stick as evenly. Also, about 3-4 tablespoons of glitter is enough to do one very small, 4-5" dim, pumpkin. These turn out so well and they are so easy! However, next time I'm going to find some fake pumpkins to glitterfy, because it's a shame these will go bad in a few weeks.

Cool Jewelry from Shonah

I discovered this line on the popular design blog, Design Milk. I haven't actually seen these in person, but I love them. Plastic, animals, and patterns all in one totally unique piece of jewelry that would dress up the most casual outfit. Visit shonah.com.
